A paternalistic portrait of Marshal Philippe Pétain hovers above two young children walking together as they read a copy of a book about Pétain, Il etait une fois un Marechal de France [Once upon a time there was a Marshall of France by Paluel-Marmont, 1941]. The puzzle provides an example of the glorification of Petain, leader of the collaborationist Vichy regime during the German occupation of France.
